Prothonotary Warbler NC #224613028
Description
This species of warbler is named for its bright plumage, which resembles the yellow robes worn by prothonotaries of the Roman Catholic church. As you can see here, the males have a bright-yellow head and breast which can appear orange in direct sunlight, a greenish-yellow back, and bluish wings. When spread, the bluish upperside of their tails shows large, white spots.
