Tashkurgan Taxkorgan, also spelled Tashkorgan and Tashkurghan, situated at an altitude of 3,090m, is the principal town and seat of Tashkurgan Tajik Autonomous County, in the autonomous region of Xinjiang, in the far northwest of China. With a long history as a stop on the Silk Road, it sits today on the Karakoram Highway and is the last town before the Chinese border with Pakistan
