Description
Clevedon Pier was described as the most beautiful Pier in England by Sir John Betjeman. It was built in the 1860s. It is 312 m long. When it first opened it served as an embarkation point for steamer trips, which lasted for nearly 100 years. Demolition was proposed in the 1970s when parts of the Pier collapsed. local fund raising and grants meant it was dismantled and restored and opened again in 19989. It one Pier of the year in 2021. Everything has been restored to,its original form. You can see across the Severn Estuary to wales.
