Title
Exposed aerial stilt roots of Rhizophora sp. mangrove tree in a riverine tropical mangrove forest #227633221
Description
Riverine mangrove forests are those that occur along tidal rivers. As a result, the river has more freshwater during low tide, fed by its tributaries upstream, but gets inundated with sea water during high tide. The aerial roots of Rhizophora species are exposed above the muddy ground to allow the plant to breathe air and to anchor the plant firmly to the unstable ground, withstanding storms and sea.
