Proud African fisherman with his boat, Ghana #22772830
Description
Saltpond fishing village in Coastal Ghana (Western Africa). A fisherman is posing in front of his wooden fishing boat. The boats are large and operated by several boatmen and are suitable for fishing in the sea. Each has a unique name, very often connected with Christian religion (e.g. Jesus). Typically, these fishing boats are not owned by boatmen themselves but they belong to a rich owner that possesses several such boast. Most people who inhabit coastal area of Ghana are Christians, but all of them still follow traditional laws of local religions. In this village, for example, there is a tabu to go fishing on Tuesdays. According to local legends, gods of the ocean rest at that time and people do not want to break this siesta.
