Alan Keyes a conservative Republican and presidential wannabee, is a guest speaker at the Jewish Community Center in West Orange, New Jersey on October 27, 2002. Keyes was a polarizing and controversial figure in the 1990s and early 2000s, running twice for US Senator in Maryland and once for the Senatorial position in Illinois. He was handily defeated each time, the last one by Barack Obama. He took a hard line on anti-abortion. A former diplomat, in foreign policy he made a very pro-Israel policy one of his foremost issues. In addition to being a political activist, he was a commentator, author, and political radio talk show host. At one time, he was briefly a candidate for the Republican Party presidential nomination.
