Barkhor Tibetan: བར་སྐོར་, Tibetan Pinyin: Pargor, Willy: bar-skor, is the commercial center and busiest street in the old city of Lhasa. The Barkhor Ring Road is composed of Barkhor East Street, Barkhor South Street, Barkhor West Street, and Barkhor North Street. The perimeter of Barkhor Street is about 1,000 meters. It has a history of more than 1,300 years, and it retains the original features of the ancient city of Lhasa.Barkhor is the oldest street in Lhasa. After the ancient Songtsen Gampo and Princess Wencheng led their troops to Lhasa, they first built the Jokhang Temple. The followers of Tibetan Buddhism began to turn around the Jokhang Temple and gradually formed a road. The transit roads of the three transit roads in Lhasa the other two are the outer transit road `Linguo` that surrounds the Old City of Lhasa, including the Potala Palace, and the inner transit road `Nangko` in the Jokhang Temple , Tibetans call Barkhor the `Holy Road`, and the Tibetan word `Kuo` means `turning road`.
