Description
The statue of Fibonacci, also known as Leonardo Bonacci, Leonardo of Pisa, in the old cemetery called Camposanto, in Piazza dei Miracoli of Pisa, Tuscany, Italy. He was an Italian mathematician from the Republic of Pisa, considered to be the most talented Western mathematician of the Middle Ages. He introduced Europe to the sequence of Fibonacci numbers, which he used as an example in Liber Abaci. The name Piazza dei Miracoli was coined by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d`Annunzio. In 1987, the whole square was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
