Description

Ema is a small wooden board where Shinto worshippers in Japanese culture write their prayers. Once written, worshippers should hang the board together with other boards in a designated place inside the shrine and leave it there. These Ema boards will be burned together in ritualistic ceremonies or on special days. It’s believed that the prayers and the wishes will reach the god in heaven through the smoke generated from burning. Two tall cedar trees are joined by the roots, and legend says that if you walk round the trees hand in hand with a family member or loved one, great wealth and prosperity will be bestowed upon your descendants.
