Old traditional house in Letea village, Danube Delta #228830483
Description
Letea village is located in Tulcea County, Northern Dobruja, Romania. Letea Forest is the oldest nature reserve in Romania, the northernmost subtropical forest in Europe. It is located in the east of the Danube Delta, between the branches of Chilia and Sulina, on the Letea ridge. The Letea ridge is a relief unit fluvio-maritime ridge located in the northeastern part of the Danube Delta, between the Chilia branches to the north and Sulina to the south. The relief is predominated by sand dunes whose altitude varies between 3-10 m, between which there are a series of depressions developed more in length, in the form of strips, which are occupied by arboreal vegetation. These depressions are called hasmacs. In one of these hasmacs is also found the Letea Forest forest reservation, known by the locals as the Hasmacu Mare Forest. Letea Forest is a touristic attraction for its secular oaks, sand dunes and wild horses that live here. Danube Delta, Romania.
