Description
The Pagoda plant is an evergreen woody shrub, native to South China & Southeast Asia. A member of the Lamiaceae mint, sage family, it is widely cultivated as an ornamental for its showy inflorescences. In Malaysia & Indonesia, some Clerodendrums are believed to have supernatural powers `pepanggil`. It is also one of the plants used to sprinkle `air tepung tawar` sacred water at traditional Malay wedding & blessing ceremonies, while its crushed leaves are used to treat dysentery.
