Pictured is the Tarrant County Historical Commission marker for three oak trees known as `Steel`s Tavern Oaks` in downtown Fort Worth. They are named for pioneer Lawrence Steel who operated a hotel and stagecoach stop known as Steel`s Tavern. These trees are the last remnant of the original fort grounds constructed in 1849. These trees are honored today by the state as `Famous Trees of Texas`. A Tarrant County Historical Commission marker was placed in 2019.
