Title
A Chinatown execution, 819 Washington St. #229720352
Description
Sounding like something out of a Mafia story, Fong Ching, who was known as `Little Pete` to his friends, arrived in San Francisco in 1875 at age ten, dirt poor and friendless. He built up a shoe manufacturing business while he lived at 819 Washington St., but his real money was from offering protection to area brothels and gambling dens. On the evening of 23 January, 1897, as Fong Ching went to his barber downstairs, and as he sent his body guard to get the paper, some rival gang came into the shop and blew his brains out. He was all of 32 years old at the time. This is how the building looks in September 2021.
