751 Commercial Street - The Rube Goldberg Building. Editorial Image

The famous cartoonist of New York, Rube Goldberg, is actually a San Francisco native. In his early years when just starting out and not making too much money, he was able to buy this building in 1906, located at 751 Commercial Street. Along with the modifications that were being done, it was way beyond the his meager means to pay. It turns out Goldberg had a business partner, who, unbeknownst to him, was setting up a bordello. Goldberg sold the building in 1916. Today San Francisco is more famous for location shootings for everything from movies to commercials as seen here in September 2021.
