Description
On the water-edge of Lake Geneva near Montreux this 12th century castle is the most important touristic attraction of Switzerland. Build both as a fortress controlling the ancient passage from France to Italy and an princely residence facing the blue waters of Lake Geneva it consists of 25 building units, oldest of them dating back to the first millennium. In the background, the majestic peaks of Dents du Midi, a mountain range in the swiss Alps reaching 3257 metres or 10,686 feet.
