Description
San Francisco`s Chinatown is one of the most densely populated neighborhoods in the whole country. One person who was born and raised here was Willie Wong, who started playing basketball in one of the local playgrounds.Willie went on to play all through school, including The University of San Francisco, before becoming a professional player, and was considered the best Chinese American player in the 1940`s, despite only being five foot five inches tall.The nickname Woo Woo was given to him by a local reporter, for the sound he would make in celebration when scoring points.The park he used to play in has recently been remodeled and renamed for Willie, in time for the 2021 lunar New Year, as seen September 2021.
