Title
Portsmouth Square Chinatown San Francisco, 4. #230022148
Description
Originally named Plaza de Yerba Buena, the Spanish phrase meaning `Good Herb`, when it was initially established in the early 19th Century, and California was still a part of Mexico, the name Portsmouth is in honor of the American ship that landed here to capture this land in 1846.Always used as a gathering place and meeting place, todays Portsmouth Square is right in Chinatown and is still used as a gathering place and meeting place, which is why the structures all have Chinese themes, even the elevator for the parking garage, as seen in September 2021.
