Martinelli Building São Paulo Brazil #231140366
Description
View from the terrace to the highest part of the building. It was the first skyscraper in the city of São Paulo. It was built by Giuseppe Martinelli, an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in 1889. Built in 1924, in an area considered noble at the time, the building impressed not only its dimensions, but also its rich ornamentation and luxurious finish: Riga pine doors, stairs in Carrara marble, Belgian glass, mirrors and wallpaper, English bathroom fixtures, Swiss elevators. In order for him to show everyone that the building was safe, he made his house on the roof of the building.
