It was built by Giuseppe Martinelli, an Italian immigrant who arrived in Brazil in 1889. Built in 1924, in an area considered noble at the time, the building impressed not only its dimensions, but also its rich ornamentation and luxurious finish: pine doors from Riga, Stairs in Carrara marble, Belgian glass, mirrors and wallpaper, English bathroom fixtures, Swiss elevators. To show everyone that the building was safe, he made his house on the building`s roof.
