The non extant 299 Fell Street Saloon, 2. #231325645
Description
People growing up in an area may have a hard time imagining how it may have been so different, even just a hundred years earlier.299 Fell Street, San Francisco was once the location of a saloon, owned by John Wobbe. Nothing special there, as there was a lot of saloon in San Francisco in 1912. This John Wobbe had a dog, Steam, that was killed by one of the street cars. Again, not so unusual for the time period.Since there was a lot next to his saloon that was vacant at the time, John buried his dog there, and after a three-day memorial service, decided the dog was worth a military style send off.Drawing his revolver, he fired three times into the air, then handed the gun to a friend, asking him to do the same.Since a local policeman was in the area at the time, he arrested and had them charged with `firing a gun with in city limits`. As seen September 2021.
