Description
Common milkweed seed pods, Asclepias syriaca a Herbaceous perennial. The flowers produce warty seed pods 2 to 4 inches long that split when ripe to cast many fine seeds to the wind. Toxic to people. Grows Fields and roadsides of eastern North America. Milkweed is the single most important source of food for the threatened monarch butterfly.
