Built between 1559 to 1560 by King Setthathilat, Wat Xieng Thong is the most historically significant of Luang Prabang`s many Buddhist monasteries & is one of the oldest intact temples in the city to be preserved in its original state. Located at the tip of the Luang Prabang Peninsula, on a hill overlooking the Mekong River, it is a monument to traditional Lao temple architecture & religious art.
