Sukhothai Historical Park covers the ruins of Sukhothai, literally `Dawn of Happiness`, capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in Thailand, in the 13th & 14th centuries. Wat Mahathat was the spiritual center of the Sukhothai Kingdom. At the epicenter of the complex is the classic Sukhothai lotus-bud chedi, founded by Si Intharathit, first king of Sukhothai, to house relics of the Buddha
