Description
The Oriental magpie-robin (Copsychus saularis) is a small passerine bird that was previously classified as a member of the Turdidae thrush family, but is now classified as an Old World flycatcher. They are recognizable black and white birds with a long tail held high as they browse on the ground or perch prominently. They are ubiquitous birds in both urban gardens and forests across most of the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. They were originally popular as cagebirds and were well-known for their melodies.
