The Stucco Town Hall a Grade II* Listed Building was built in 1799 by Mrs Elizabeth Allanson of Studley Royal daughter and heir of William Aislabie, for the use of the Corporation. The architect was James Wyatt. Entablature to eaves with frieze inscribed `EXCEPT YE LORD KEEP YE CITTIE YE WAKEMAN WAKETH IN VAIN`.
