Coreopsis lanceolata, commonly called coreopsis lanceleaf, is a native wild flower that typically grows to 2` tall and occurs in grasslands, clearings, fields and roadsides. Plants of the Coreopsis genus are sometimes called ticks in reference to the seeds` similarity to ticks. It prefers full sun with moist, well-draining soil, but can spread if grown in very fertile soil. It can be aggressive self-infiltration and colony formation and should be planted in areas where this would not be a problem.
