Pictured is a monumental statue titled `Christo Rei` on the left bank of the Rio Tejo Tagus River across from the city of Lisbon in Portugal. It was inagurated on May 17th, 1959. Set atop a 270 foot plingh, the figure of Christ measures nearly 100 feet in height and was designed by sculptor Francisco Franco de Sousa. Its location is in the civil parish of Pragal, in the city of Almada, in the District of Setúbal, Lisbon Region. It is also a national monument.
