Description
Pictured is the Belem Tower on the mouth of the Tagus River in Lisbon, Portugal. It was built in the 16th century and is a prominent example of the Portugese Manueline style. The designer was Francisco de Arruda and it was built from lioz limestone. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 as a part of the Monastery of the Hieronymites and the Tower of Belem in Lisbon. It was included in the registry of the Seven Wonders of Portugal in 2007.
