Description
The Carduelis magellanica icterica, popularly known as Blackhead Goldfinch, is a bird that has origins in South America and has very peculiar characteristics, such as its beautiful song and black hood. Goldfinch is most common in South America. Found mainly in the Andes from southern Colombia to Chile, eastern Brazil and Bolivia to central Argentina, and northern Brazil. It is usually common in open habitats with few trees, including agricultural areas, parks and gardens. This species moves in small, noisy groups, flying and feeding on seeds in both vegetation and soil.
