Pictured is a monument honoring Manuel Pinheiro Chagas, Portuguese writer, playwright and journalist who lived from 1842 to 1895. The monument was designed by sculptor Antonio Augusto Costa Motta and had its inauguration in 1908. The monument includes the bronze bust of the famous novelist, the bronze female figure statue that represents the main character of the acclaimed play “A Morgadinha de Valflor”, and the wreath that hangs under the bust. It stands on Avenida Da Liberdade in Lisbon, Portugal
