Description
The word Hibernia goes all of the way back to the ancient Latin and Greek, where it referred to the present land of Ireland. Opened in San Francisco in 1892 as the Hibernia Savings and Loan, it was abandoned in 1985 by the bank and sat vacant for most of several decades after, despite having City Landmark status since 1981. Finally being revised and subdivided, it is also helping to revive the cities Tenderloin Neighborhood. As seen October 2021.
