The New Asian Art Museum San Francisco, 13. #233900357
Description
San Francisco`s Asian Art Museum is one of the most comprehensive museums of Asian Art in the world, with some pieces going back 6, 000 years old. Originally just a separate wing of the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park, the collection kept growing and growing until there was just no more room left for anything. Fortunately, then mayor Diane Feinstein had already started a revitalization project for the Civic Center, which included moving the Asian Art Museum to the now empty, old Main Library. This new space has 75% more exhibition space than the old museum in the Park, and opened in 2011. With all the additional space, it was soon expanded, with the new additional space opening in 2019. nAs seen November 2021.
