New Hampshire's Old Man of the Mountain. First discovered by surveyors in 1805, the "Old Man" quickly became a New Hampshire tourist attraction, as both locals and visitors alike flocked to Franconia to get a glimpse at the state's Cannon Mountain landmark. Sometime between May first and May third of 2003, the granite ledges making up the Old Man gave way and collapsed downward leaving only a sheer cliff behind.
