Scots pines(Pinus sylvestris) loch Clair,Scotland #23411436
Description
This image shows how the generic forests in Scotland should be (Caledonian), this is loch Clair, in the Torridon highlands. There is a good population of Scots pines in the area, but in many areas they have been felled. Historically for mining props, and in wartime ships, etc. They were even felled in the nineteenth century, for sheep grazing and to deter wolves. Now they are being replanted in many areas, whilst the massive commercial conifer plantations are being reduced.
