Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat is the biggest & most important historic temple in Si Satchanalai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in Chaliang, Sukhothai Province, Thailand. Known locally as `Wat Prang`, it was built as a Mahayana Buddhist temple in the late 12th century during the reign of Jayavarman VII when Chaliang was part of the Khmer Empire but was expanded & modified during the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods.
