Villersbrunnen in Leipzig, Germany #234969494
Description
The fountain on the Tröndlinring former Ring-Messehaus was created in 1903 by the sculptor Max Unger. In a circular water basin is a smaller basin supported by three intertwined fish bodies. In the small basin is a bronze figure representing a drinking female figure. The original statue was melted down in 1942 for weapons production. It was not until the 1950s that the fountain was restored to its original form by a replica of the female figure, which was stolen in 1993 and replaced by a copy in 2003.
