Traditional architecture in the Aragonese Pyrenees #235205115
Description
There are plenty of examples of traditional mountain architecture to be found in the secluded hamlets nested within the valleys of the Pyrenees range. They are an example of the adaptative ability shown by the inhabitants of these remote areas, who had to endure long and severe winters in isolation. Dwellings, barnyards and churches were built using centuries-old techniques such as drystone masonry. They constitute a rich cultural heritage, nowadays endangered by the rural exodus.
