The Sheriff Khalil Pasha Mosque was built in 1744 in the central part of the town of Shumen. Later, due to the expansion of the city, the mosque remained in its southwestern part. With the complex of buildings around it, the temple is the largest in our country in area and architectural significance and second on the Balkan Peninsula after the Sultan Selim Mosque, located in Edirne, Turkey.
