Pictured are sculptures of Saints Teresa of Avila and Joseph Calasanzl on the main square of Santa Maria de Montserrat, an abbey of the Order of Saint Benedict and host of the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary. In the distance through the portal is the Crue de Sant Miquel with tourists at its base. The monastery was founded in the 11th century and rebuilt between the 19th and 20th centuries, and still functions to this day, with over 70 monks. Montserrat was designated a national park in 1987.
