Description
Italian screenwriter, director, and filmmaker Lina Wertmuller appears at the Jerusalem Cinematheque for the 9th Annual Jerusalem Internal Film Festival on July 17, 1992. Wearing her famous white glasses, she was answering questions at a press conference about her then current production, ``Ciao, Professore!` Her heyday was the 1970s, when she directed her most celebrated cinematic works , `The Seduction of Mimi,` `Seven Beauties,` and `Swept Away.` She was also the first woman director nominated for an Oscar, for `Seven Beauties,` which starred Giancarlo Giannini. The National Board of Review voted her 1975 masterpiece, `Swept Away,` as Best Foreign Film.` Wertmuller was mentored by the great Italian master filmmaker, Federico Fellini. She died at her Rome home on December 9, 2021, at the age of 93.
