Description
Pictured is a cracked ceramic plate designating the street as the location for the tavern where Carmen met with Don Jose and Escamillo. The plate has a red symbol that reads `Seville city of opera` . It notes that the opera Carmen was authored by Georges Bizet. Carmen was a beautiful, sensuous gypsy who Don Jose fell in love with, but she left him for the bullfighter Escamillo and in a jealous rage he stabbed Carmen at a bullfight, and she died in Escamillo`s arms. The plate was made a ceramic company that specializes in fine earthenware founded by Carlos Pickman in the monastery of La Cartuja in 1841.
