Description
On a trip to Naples, Italy, King Umberto I and Queen Margharita of Savoy wanted to taste the region`s famous pizzas. Pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito was selected to create flavors that would please royalty. Then he topped the pizza dough with: tomato, cheese and basil, inspired by the colors of Italy`s flag. In honor of the queen, the pizza was named Magherita. The flavor`s success was so great that it is present in most pizzerias around the world until today, following the tradition of thinner, lighter and crunchy pastas, giving the traditional pizza margarita a delicious base for combining the other ingredients.
