Description
Dudu Topaz, a popular Israeli comedian, actor, and television personality greets legendary Israeli singer Shoshana Damari at the Karmiel Dance Festival in Israel`s Galilee region in 1988. Topaz`s career faded and he behaved erratically, plotting with others to physically attack his perceived enemies. He hung himself in prison in August of 2009 at the age of 62. Damari was renowned for her exceptionally powerful contralto or lyric alto voice. She was beloved and became a symbol of her nation. Damari was awarded her nation`s highest civilian honor, the Israel Prize, in 1988. Born of an immigrant Yemeni family, in her youth she was exceptionally beautiful with luxuriant black hair. She died on February 14, 2006 after a bout of pneumonia, at the age of 82.
