Bougainvillea ââ¬â Bougainvillea glabra is a tree belonging to the Nyctaginaceae family, native to southern Brazil, perennial, woody, up to 20 meters tall.Tortuous trunk, ribbed, dark brown bark, 40-80 cm in diameter.Very branched, with thorns in the branches.Simple, membranous leaves of variable shape and size.Small flowers, surrounded by 3 bracts, showy pink or almost lilac. They appear almost all year round, but it is in summer that they are covered entirely with flowers.In landscaping it is used as an isolated plant in the middle of lawns, together forming masses; also in the afforestation of parks and gardens.It can be carried as a climbing plant, supported by pergolas, arbors and walls.
