The oldest festival, called Taleno in the local Shina language of Gilgit, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the evening of 21st December, just like every other year.It is said that many years ago a tyrant king passed by in Gilgit under the name of Shri Badat who was a tyrant and used to eat the infants. Û” And so he was burnt to death in this fire and the people got rid of the tyrant man-eating ruler. In commemoration of this event, like every year, this year also the Taleno event was celebrated in Hunza Shinaki village Khanaabad.
