Description
The predecessor of Jiefangbei, Duyou Street, has been bustling with traffic since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is the `first street` of Chongqing, and Chaotianmen is also the `gate` of Chongqing`s opening in 1891. During the Anti-Japanese War, more than 160 financial institutions settled in Chaotianmen, Shaanxi Road, and Datong Street, giving it the reputation of `Oriental Wall Street`. During the Anti-Japanese War, Duyou Street was expanded and renamed Minquan Road and Minzu Road. `Duyou Street` has always been the most prosperous business district in Chongqing. Jiefangbei Post Office has witnessed the changes of Duyou Street and is the epitome of the century-old history of Chongqing Post.
