Ezer Weizman In Jerusalem In 1987 Editorial Image

This black and white photo of Ezer Weizman, 7th president of Israel, was taken at a press conference in November, 1987 on the 10th anniversary of Anwar Sadat`s speech before the Israeli Knesset in Beit Agron, Jerusalem. Weizman was born in British mandate Palestine, and died in Israel at 80 in 2005. He served in the British armed forces in north Africa in WW II and was an ace pilot and war hero in Israel. He later became head of the air force, a member of parliament, and Defense and Transportation ministers in different governments. He was colorful, plain-spoken, pragmatic and a skilled unofficial diplomat, particularly with Egypt before and during his presidency from 1993-2000.
