Like all hummingbirds, the Black chinned hummingbird, Archilochus alexandri, is native throughout the Americas, but are mainly found in tropical areas. The Black chinned specifically are found in the western North America. Known for their long beaks for obtaining nectar from flowers, this also helps the flowers in pollination. Their tongues can also be extended while in flight, for catching insects.
