Afternoon Tea with sandwiches and cakes #239574153
Description
Afternoon tea was introduced in England by Anne the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the year 1840, she would become hungry at 4pm while the evening meal was served at 8 pm. The duchess asked that a tray with tea, bread and butter, using the idea from the Earl of Sandwich of fillings between two slices of bread, and cake. This became a habit of hers and led to being a fashionable social event during the 1880s. To experience the best afternoon tea tradition indulge yourself at a fine hotel or quaint tearoom.
