Potala Palace (English transliteration: the Potala Palace), commonly known as Mount Putuo, stands in the northwest of Red Hill in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, is a large-scale castle buildings. Was originally built by Songtsen Gampo married Princess Wencheng, the reconstruction of the 17th century, the Potala Palace to become the Winter Palace residence of the Dalai Lama, Tibet's theocratic rule center. The whole palace has distinctive Tibetan style, hillside, magnificent momentum. Potala Palace, a collection of countless treasures, called the palace of art. In 1961, the Potala Palace was the People's Republic of China State Council announced as one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection unit. In 1994, the Potala Palace as a World Heritage Site.
